Room

Time for a Joxer Film Review of “Room”..

Starring Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay as a mother and son held captive in a backyard shed known only to them as “room”, This wonderful adaptation of the Emma Donaghue novel is a must see for anyone who likes proper no-fuss drama.

Brie Larson plays Joy a woman held captive for 7 years and raising her 5 year old son that has never seen the outside world and keeping him entertained whilst trying to keep her world together as she continually faces abuse from her captor.Eventually she manages to smuggle her son Jack out of “room” into the real world where she is rescued from captivity. This is where the real story begins as she and Jack re-adjust to a life in the real world into a world he has never known and a life she has forgotten, Can they keep it together?

Beautifully shot with minimalistic use of music, It’s a wonderful, uplifting, emotional, inspirational film of never giving up when all seems lost and how a bond between a mother and son can never be broken..

Brie Larson quite rightly is up for all kinds of rewards for her performance in this but the star of the film is Jacob Tremblay as her 5 year old boy who is absolutely amazing as Jack.

A must see film..
