Starring Billy Bob Thornton, Kathy Bates and Tony Cox and directed by Mark Waters, Bad Santa 2 is set 10 years after the first film and finds Willie Soke [Thornton] looking through life from the bottom of a bottle and trying to commit suicide by gasing himself in an electric oven.Meeting up with Marcus Skidmore [Cox] in a diner,Soke’s is offered to do a robbery with Cox in Chicago where he finds out that his partner-in-crime and chief organiser is none other than his mother [Bates] who has a plan to rob the local charity shelter offices. Will they manage to get the job done as a team or will the anti-hero Santa and gang come a cropper..?
This film is as about as subtle as a North Korean marching band and with all the depth and creativity as a pre-school nativity play with lines and dialogue given with as much enthusiasm as a stroppy teenager on a Monday morning January school run.It is woefully short on laughs, dreadfully dull and a complete waste of 93 minutes of one’s life.Billy Bob Thornton phones it in and Kathy Bates is just a foul-mouthed version of Mama Fratelli in The Goonies, all tattoo’s,belching and coughing and a waste of her talents..
The jokes are thinner than a cheap pizza and the 2 in the title refers to the amount of times you will actually laugh during this so-called comedy.
To give you an idea of how bad this film is it ends with various shots of Billy Bob Thornton’s testicles in the closing credits and it was a wonderful feeling when the film ended knowing that I would never willingly have to watch this rubbish again..
A complete mess of a movie that will only appeal to the lowest form of the species and one to be avoided by everyone else..
A very late contender for worst film of the year
Joxer Film Rating..
A very generous bah-humbugging
